Twitter’s hottest 10 trends of the week ( Daw Suu is in Top one)

November 22, 2010 | Matt Tran

Normally each week it is the pop stars that dominate the trends charts on Twitter and that was very much the case last week. However it is a different story this week and we bring you a combo of sports, celebrity and social events courtesy of Mashable who kindly compile the chart.
Aung San Suu Kyi starts things off this week as the most popular topic on the micro-blogging site. The Nobel Peace Prize winner and pro-democracy leader is supposedly being set free after military authorities in Myanmar have signed an order for his release.

This week’s runner up is The Royal Wedding which was announced last Tuesday and has generated a huge following. Prince William who is second in line to the throne has confirmed his engagement to long term partner Kate Middleton and the pair will wed in 2011.
Boxing is the 3rd top trend of the week as Manny Pacquiao earned his 8th title via a unanimous decision after his fight against Antonio Margarito. People are now calling for a crunch fight between him and Floyd Mayweather who is also undefeated. At 4 is Eid ul-Adha, a traditional Muslim festival that was celebrated this year between November 17-20.

The NFL is up 5 places this week and is in 5th place after the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick faced the Washinton Redskins quarterback (and ex-Eagles QB) Donovan McNabb. The Eagles defeated the Redskins, 59-28. Harry Potter is 6th this week as part 1 of the Deathly Hallows movie was released on November 19th; this is the 7th film in the series.

Soccer/Football is down 3 places this week to 7 as it was revealed by officials that the first-round groups of the 2011 Copa América South American football championship will be held in Argentina this time. Tony Parker and Eva Longoria are in at 8 this week after the basketball player and actress filed for divorce. 9th place this week goes to the NBA because Greg Oden of the Portland Trailblazers is out for the season again with a knee injury.

And completing the chart this week is Ryan Reynolds who was voted by People Magazine as the sexiest man alive; lucky him. That is the chart for this week so leave us your comments on what you thought of it. Be sure to look at for last week’s if you missed it and look out for next week’s.
