Unconfirmed Source: French navy vessel Hover was intercepted by regime naval boats
Saturday, May 17, 2008

“A French navy ship carrying aid material idled near Burma's coast Saturday, awaiting permission from the ruling military regime to dock in the cyclone-devastated Irrawaddy delta.” Associated Press said today.

However, there is unconfirmed source said that French’s navy humanitarian aid vessel Hover was heading to Delta region while it was stopped by Burma navy boats in Adman Sea. However, French vessel Hover was escorted by US navy attack planes. There was no report of shoot out from both sides.

In Rangoon, people were wondering US military intervention is only to end the daily crisis. Having a conversation by phone, Rangoon residents said military trucks were moving from Rangoon to Irrawaddy division. One of sources said the regime has deployed its troops in civilian coats at possible spot of French’s navy vessel hover reach to the shore.

One of the Burmese scholars predicted that there would be more likely to have engagement between US government and SPDC.

He noted that US tends not to make another wrong strategy in Iraq. When US terminated Sadden Hussein’s BADD Party and Iraq army was a mistake. Policy makers had thought that existing Iraq army became major destructive element in the transitional period before US invaded Iraq.

Now, in Burma case, he noted that US may not make another mistake and to resolute between US government and SPDC in engagement ways.
